Connect Google Search Console

Connect and verify your Google Search Console property so impressions, clicks, and ranking positions are available throughout SEO Core.

Why connect Google Search Console

Without GSC data, you're working from assumptions. With it connected, SEO Core can show you exactly how Google sees each page — which queries are driving impressions, which URLs are ranking, and where the gap between impressions and clicks is widest.

Real impression and click data

See exactly how many times each URL appeared in Google Search results and how many clicks it received — per page, per keyword.

Ranking position tracking

Know the average position each URL ranks for in Google Search, updated regularly from your actual Search Console data.

Smarter issue prioritization

Issues on pages with existing search impressions are ranked higher — because those pages are already in the index and improvements have immediate impact.

Keyword Mapper enrichment

GSC data powers the Keyword Mapper — surfacing which URLs Google already associates with which queries, so you can assign keywords with confidence.

Connecting Google Search Console

  1. 1

    Open project integrations

Go to Projects and click Integrations on the project you want to connect GSC to. Each project connects to its own GSC property.

  2. 2

    Connect your Google account

Click Connect Google Search Console. You'll be redirected to Google's authorization page.

Sign in with the Google account that has access to your Search Console property, then grant the requested permissions.

    Important

Make sure you sign in with the Google account that is verified as an Owner or Full user on the Search Console property. Read-only access is not sufficient for all features.

  3. 3

    Select your Search Console property

After connecting your Google account, a list of your Search Console properties will appear. Select the property that matches this project's domain.

    Tip

If your property doesn't appear in the list, ensure it's been verified in Google Search Console first. Go to search.google.com/search-console to verify your property.

  4. 4

    Select your primary country

Choose the primary country you want GSC data filtered for. This affects ranking position averages and impression data shown throughout SEO Core.

You can change this at any time from the project integrations settings.

  5. 5

    Wait for the initial sync

SEO Core will begin pulling your GSC data in the background. The initial sync may take a few minutes depending on the size of your Search Console dataset.

Once complete, GSC data will be visible in your crawler results, issues list, keyword mapper, and domain analysis views.

What data is synced

SEO Core pulls the following data from your Google Search Console property:

  • Queries — the search terms that triggered your pages to appear in Google results.
  • URLs — the specific pages associated with each query.
  • Impressions — how many times a URL appeared in search results for a given query.
  • Clicks — how many times users clicked through to your site.
  • Average position — the average ranking position for each URL/query combination.
  • Click-through rate (CTR) — clicks divided by impressions.

Note

GSC data is typically 2–3 days delayed, as Google Search Console itself doesn't provide real-time data. Syncs run regularly to keep your data as current as possible.

How GSC data is used across SEO Core

Crawler & Issues

Each crawled URL shows its impression and click data alongside technical findings. The issue prioritization engine uses this data to rank fixes by their potential real-world impact.

Keyword Mapper

The Keyword Mapper reads your GSC query→URL associations and uses them to suggest keyword assignments. Pages that Google already ranks for a query are pre-mapped as candidates, making it easy to confirm or reassign them.

Domain Analysis

Domain Analysis enriches keyword rows with actual impressions, clicks, and position data from GSC — giving you a direct comparison between where you're tracking organically and where your keyword research suggests you should be.

Deployment targeting

Pages with high impressions but low CTR appear as priority deployment candidates — because improving their title or meta description can directly increase clicks from existing search visibility.

Checking deployed URLs in Search Console

After deploying SEO improvements to a page, SEO Core can open the connected Search Console property directly so you can inspect the URL in Google’s own interface.

  1. 1

    Make a deployment

Deploy a title, description, or other change to a page from the Crawler or SEO Deployments view.

  2. 2

    Open Search Console

In the SEO Deployments view, find the URL you just updated and click Open in Search Console. SEO Core opens URL Inspection with the connected property selected.

    Note

Google controls crawling and indexing from Search Console. SEO Core does not submit indexing requests through the API.

Disconnecting or switching accounts

To disconnect your GSC integration or switch to a different Google account, go to Projects → Integrations → Google Search Console → Disconnect.

Disconnecting removes the integration but does not delete the synced data already stored in SEO Core. You can reconnect at any time to resume syncing.
