How AI is used in SEO Core
AI runs throughout several parts of SEO Core — from generating optimized title and description suggestions in the crawler view, to the AI SEO Autopilot that can analyze your site and propose a full sequence of SEO improvements for your review.
AI SEO Autopilot
A conversational AI assistant that analyzes your crawl data, keyword research, and issue list — then proposes specific deployments and content improvements for you to review and approve.
Title & description generation
Generate optimized title tags and meta descriptions for any page directly from the crawler or deployment views, informed by the page's content and target keyword.
Content suggestions
Generate heading text, content block improvements, and schema markup suggestions based on page context and keyword targets.
BYOK (Bring Your Own Key)
Connect your own API keys from OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), or DeepSeek to use your preferred models — and keep AI costs under your own accounts.
AI SEO Autopilot
The AI SEO Autopilot is a guided, conversational workflow that combines your site's data with AI reasoning to produce a prioritized, actionable SEO improvement plan — then helps you execute it with one-click deployments.
How Autopilot works

Select a project
Open AI Autopilot from the sidebar and select the project you want to work on. Autopilot reads your most recent crawl data, keyword mappings, and issue list for that project.

Start a conversation
Tell Autopilot what you want to achieve — improve title tags across the site, fix critical issues, optimize pages for specific keywords, or generate schema markup for product pages. Autopilot will ask clarifying questions and propose a plan.

Review proposed deployments
Autopilot stages a series of specific deployments — title changes, meta description updates, heading optimizations — and presents them to you for review. Each proposed change shows the current value, the proposed value, and a brief explanation of why the change is recommended.
Tip
You're always in control. Autopilot never makes changes to your live site without your explicit approval. Review and approve each proposed deployment individually, or approve all at once.

Approve and deploy
Approve the changes you want to apply. Autopilot deploys them to your live site using your configured deployment method — instantly, without any CMS access required.

Iterate
Autopilot maintains conversation context across sessions. Come back later to check on progress, ask for a new batch of improvements, or pivot to a different area of your site.
Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)
SEO Core requires your connected provider key for scalable SEO generation tasks such as titles, descriptions, headings, content, and schema. Internal AI credits are reserved for orchestration and analysis, not silent shared-credit generation.
Supported providers
- OpenAI — GPT-4o and other OpenAI models.
- Anthropic — Claude models (Sonnet, Opus, Haiku).
- Google — Gemini models.
- DeepSeek — DeepSeek models.
Note
When you use BYOK, AI requests are sent directly to your chosen provider using your API key. SEO Core does not store your key beyond your account settings, and usage is billed directly by the provider to your account.
Setting up BYOK

Get your API key from your provider
Log in to your provider's developer platform and create an API key:
- OpenAI — platform.openai.com → API Keys
- Anthropic — console.anthropic.com → API Keys
- Google AI — aistudio.google.com → API Keys
- DeepSeek — platform.deepseek.com → API Keys
Important
Keep your API keys private. Anyone with your key can make requests charged to your account. Treat them like passwords.

Open AI settings in SEO Core
Go to Account → AI Settings (or Settings → AI Integration depending on your plan). You'll see a section for each supported provider.

Enter your API key
Paste your API key into the field for the provider you want to use. Click Save. SEO Core will test the connection to confirm the key is valid.
Tip
If you add keys for multiple providers, you can select which one to use for different generation workflows — for example, a cost-effective model for bulk title generation and a stronger model for content recommendations.

Select your default model (optional)
For providers that offer multiple models, you can choose which model to use by default. If you leave this blank, SEO Core selects a recommended model for each task type automatically.

Start using AI features
Generation features throughout SEO Core will now use your connected provider. Autopilot still handles the analysis and strategy, while deployable SEO copy routes through your key.
Choosing the right model
Different AI tasks benefit from different models. Here's a general guide:
Best for quality and reasoning (Autopilot conversations, complex suggestions)
- Anthropic Claude Opus or Sonnet — strong reasoning, good at following structured instructions.
- OpenAI GPT-4o — versatile, high-quality output for complex tasks.
- Google Gemini Pro — competitive quality, especially for longer content.
Best for speed and cost (bulk generation, title/description suggestions)
- Anthropic Claude Haiku — fast and cost-effective for high-volume generation.
- OpenAI GPT-4o Mini — good quality at lower cost for simpler tasks.
- DeepSeek — competitive cost with solid output quality.
Tip
If you're unsure where to start, connect the provider you already use for AI work. Autopilot will pause generation until a provider key is active.
Privacy and data handling
SEO Core sends the minimum necessary context to AI providers to generate useful results — typically the page URL, current metadata values, and relevant crawl data. We do not send full page HTML, personal user data, or proprietary business information outside of what's needed to complete the requested task.
- API keys are stored encrypted in your account settings.
- Requests to AI providers use your key but are proxied through SEO Core servers. Provider IP allowlists should include SEO Core outbound IPs if you use IP restrictions.
- AI-generated suggestions are not stored permanently — they are used to stage deployments that you approve or discard.
AI usage limits
Internal AI credits cover orchestration and analysis workflows. Title, description, heading, content, schema, and bulk SEO generation use your connected provider account instead.
Note
Check your plan details for internal AI credit allowances. Provider-side usage for generated SEO modifications is billed by your selected AI provider.
